Hi all - Hoping this missive finds you doing well in these challenging times. Here's some brief news from the singer-songwriter front in Austin:
First, I'm playing a terrific, important show in Austin on Wed March 19 at 7PM with Helene Cronin and Matt Harlan. It's at the 04 Center - the premier mid-sized listening room in Austin, with perfect acoustics, comfortable seating, great sitelines and even a full bar in the lobby. Playing a venue like this is a dream, and having a good turnout would make it even better. That's where YOU come in! Second, third, fourth, etc.. Leaving my job as a high school librarian last May was a big leap - it opened up a whole new world for me. I spent last summer and fall traveling around Texas for shows at venues and house concerts, made my Saxon Pub and Good Morning Austin debut last September, and had a week long community college songwriter residency in Kansas last fall. Back in Austin, I took a media production course at ACC, discovered a love for video creation and editing, and am continuing to take video production courses at the incredible facilities at Austin Public. Video is crucial for independent artists these days, and I'm looking forward to learning more about it, and showing you my efforts! I'm continuing my 1st Sunday Songwriters residency at the NeWorlDeli, with the amazing Sarah Golden as my guest. And speaking of Houston, it was wonderful to take part in the recent Austin/Houston Moveable Fest, as a featured two city artist. I was also honored to be included as an artist in the 2025 Corpus Christi Songwriters Festival in February.
As for the future… I'll be sending a music monthly newsletter on or about the 8th of each month. I'll keep it brief, and will try to include a few fun things (see below). Music-wise, I've been writing and making plans to record again in late spring or early summer here in Austin - at least an EP, possibly more. I'm sending in applications for a few music grants, so fingers crossed!
